Summary of the project:
Ourmala provides trauma informed yoga classes for refugees, people seeking asylum and survivors of trafficking and modern slavery. We work with a variety of partner organisations to offer yoga classes in 6 locations around London, with more planned for 2018.
Yoga improves physical and mental health, soothes anxiety, ameliorates depression and physical pain, increases the ability to sleep through the night and build self-esteem and confidence. Ourmala exists to provide this therapeutic method to those who need it most.
Ourmala creates a community by including half an hour of social time in most of our classes, where clients can have a cup of tea and a chat with fellow students in their class.
