Over 50 experts in anti-doping education got together in Reykjavik (Iceland) to exchange and generate ideas on how to improve anti-doping education in Europe.

The International Standard on Education was at the center of discussions. Experts engaged in a comprehensive review of WADA’s proposals to improve the International Standard and identified further modifications.

The transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in this education featured prominently in the programme. Thomas Terney, expert on digital innovation, presented the impact of AI on the evolving landscape of anti-doping education, particularly the possibilities of integration of AI technologies to enhance the effectiveness of educational programs while respecting athletes’ rights.

The meeting of the Advisory Group on Education of the Monitoring Group underscores the Council of Europe’s commitment to advancing clean sport education and fostering international cooperation. The meeting, hosted by Anti-Doping Iceland, brought together education and anti-doping specialists from 27 States parties to the Convention, Observers from Canada, USA and international sport federations, as well as WADA.

The work of the Advisory Group on Education complements the work of the Advisory Groups on Compliance, Legal Issues and Science, each of which zooms into specific provisions of the Anti-Doping Convention.
