Back The Committee of the Saint-Denis Convention and its Ad hoc Working Group on UEFA EURO 2024 meet in Strasbourg

The Saint-Denis Committee held its 5th meeting in Strasbourg, on 23-24 April 2024, back-to-back with the second meeting of its Ad hoc Working Group on UEFA EURO 2024 (Germany).

The Committee notably elected Mr. Anton Cernat (Romania) as the chair of its Advisory Group on Monitoring, was updated on the recent developments by States parties  to the Saint-Denis Convention and observers to the Committee, and notably addressed the use of pyrotechnics, collective bans against away supporters, and combating hate speech in sport. The Committee was further updated on the state of preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the FIFA Men’s Football World Cup 2026 (to be held in Canada, Mexico and the USA). Committee members also exchanged views with relevant stakeholders such as the International Federation for Sports Officials (IFSO) on their initiatives and future cooperation.

The second meeting of the Ad hoc Working Group on UEFA EURO 2024 - Germany brought together states parties and observers taking stock of the final safety, security and service preparations for this major tournament, as presented by the German delegation and UEFA.
