Informal Networking Event

On 14 June 2018, EPAS organised a similar event with Ministers of Sport who were attending the opening of the FIFA World Cup in Moscow.
In a round table discussion, Ministers addressed the subject of how to make a quantum leap towards political and legal commitments in the fight against the manipulation of sports competitions thanks to the Macolin Convention.

Venue and accommodation
The event will take place in the Grand Ballroom of the Holiday Inn Moscow - Suschevsky. Accommodation has been pre-booked for registered participants at the same hotel. However, the accommodation costs are to be borne by the participants themselves.
Local transport
Local transport to and from the airport, as well as to and from the Luzhniki Stadium, is organised and covered by the Russian authorities.
Working languages of the meeting
English, French and Russian. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in these languages.
Delegation statements
"Making a quantum leap towards political and legal commitments in the fight against the manipulation of sports competitions thanks to the Macolin Convention" is the theme of this event.
During the round table discussion, Ministers and Heads of Delegation are invited to make statements on the following:
- comment on the assessment of the current situation (see document EPAS(2018)14rev);
- share their views on the urgency of the situation;
- identify obstacles countries face and that prevent them from making steps forward;
- suggest which political initiatives and supporting measures would help to overcome these obstacles;
- indicate the feasibility of their state signing and/or ratifying the convention (notably non-EU member states).
