The project of Pompidou Group of the Council of Europe - "Developing a Drug Prevention Support Network for Parents and Professionals in Georgia" continues to deliver cascade trainings concerning prevention of drugs and psychoactive substances. The second training on drug prevention, delivered on March 30-31, was led by the national prevention expert Darejan (Jana) Javakhishvili and the permanent correspondent of the Pompidou Group from Iceland, Rafn Magnus Johnson.
During the two-day training, issues such as the notion of prevention, its forms, levels, international and European standards, evidence-based approaches and the role of multi-agency cooperation in prevention were covered. In addition, the expert from Iceland spoke about the role of universal and environmental prevention in Iceland, evidence-based and research-based approaches, and the large-scale prevention reform implemented in the country in the field of psychoactive substance prevention. Apart from the theoretical part, the training included various practical exercises for the group.
The participants of the training were representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, Special Penitentiary Service, Probation Agency, Care Agency, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Prosecutor's Office of Georgia and Juvenile Referral Centre.
