Independent Inspector’s website and first Progress Report presented through the Council of Europe support

On 20 June 2018, the office of the Independent Inspector presented its new webpage (www.independent-inspector.ge) that was developed by the IT Company ICELIT, with the financial assistance of the Council of Europe Project “Support to the Judicial Reform in Georgia”. The webpage includes a number of innovative features, such as adaptability to the needs of people with disabilities, possibility to submit disciplinary complaint online, digital signature etc.

In his opening remarks, Cristian Urse, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia underlined the importance of the Independent Inspector’s Office in handling judicial accountability-related issues and highlighted the role the website will have in enhancing transparency and trust towards disciplinary proceedings. Independent Inspector Ketevan Tsintsadze presented a 6 months progress report of the new institution. Chief Justice Gvenetadze commended the initiative to enhance accessibility of the information on the Inspector’s operation by publishing updates and expressed willingness to regularly convey such meetings.

The presentation of the Independent Inspector’s webpage was organised by the Council of Europe “Support to the Judicial Reform Project”, which is funded by voluntary contributions of Bulgaria, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Norway, the Slovak Republic and Sweden to support the implementation of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2016 - 2019.
