The Training of Trainers on human rights education was held in close cooperation with the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions. Thirteen staff of the Office of Resource Officers were trained on the following topics: hate speech, discrimination and related legal aspects; Stereotypes and prejudices; Rights of children with disabilities and special educational needs, among others.
This was the second training of trainers conducted in 2021. In total since 2019, 39 staff members (psychologists, social workers and resource officers) have been trained and 21 of them have gone on to deliver trainings themselves. As a result, in 2021, they conducted several 2-day trainings on human rights, equality, diversity and nondiscriminatory approach for 240 resource officers and 25 coordinators from Tbilisi, Adjara, Kvemo Kartli, and Samtskhe-Javakheti.
The training enables the participants to manage the human rights education process more effectively with their colleagues, students/pupils and all stakeholders involved in school life. It helps to ensure the successful planning and implementation of various educational campaigns and other preventive initiatives.
The training programme on human rights education was developed by the end of 2019 through the joint co-operation between the Office of Resource Officers and the Council of Europe. The training was conducted by Council of Europe experts, who were involved in developing the Human Rights Education Programme for Resource Officers.
The training of trainers is supported by the co-operation project “Fight against Discrimination, Hate Crimes and Hate Speech in Georgia” which is implemented under the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023 with the support of the Danish Neighbourhood Programme in Georgia (DANEP).
