Promoting diversity and equality at the workplace – Council of Europe collaborates with SPAR Georgia

To foster equal and inclusive work environment in private companies and ensure effective responses in tackling discrimination, the Council of Europe organised a training on the implementation of the Equality Policy with SPAR Georgia on 19 July 2024. The event focused on various forms of discrimination and harassment and included practical exercises to help participants understand national and international anti-discrimination legislation and practises.

The training is a part of an ongoing cooperation with SPAR Georgia, initiated last month through the adoption of an Equality and Diversity Policy Document facilitated by the Council of Europe. The document aims to create a work environment based on diversity, equality, and inclusivity and to protect employees from any form of discrimination, harassment, and victimisation. The training program will be conducted in series, throughout July to September, to ensure capacity building and sensitisation of SPAR Georgia’s middle and top managements, as well as its trainers.

The Council of Europe is fully committed to promoting diversity and setting more inclusive approaches to address discrimination, including by encouraging the private sector to create a safe work environment. To achieve this goal, the Council of Europe will continue its cooperation with the private sector to adopt and implement equality policies.

The training was organized with the support of the Council of Europe’s project ”Enhancing Equality and Non-Discrimination in Georgia”, funded through the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2024-2027.
