The Council of Europe continues its cooperation with the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions, supporting the implementation of a six-day training course on Human Rights Education. This year social workers and psychologists joined the resource officers, to advance their knowledge and become multipliers of Human Rights Education. Twenty resource officers and social workers from different regions of Georgia completed the training course.

"Advancing education and raising awareness on issues such as human rights, children's rights, anti-discrimination approaches, tolerance, and equality are extremely important. The employees of the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions can properly apply the knowledge gained through this training course in their daily work. In addition, our trainers constantly hold informational and educational meetings with school students to help strengthen a safe, equal, caring, and tolerant environment in schools" noted Sophio Abulashvili, the Head of the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions.

Nika Mekvabishvili (social worker) reflected on the training, stating: "The training supported by the Council of Europe was interestingly structured, interactive and focused on applying the acquired knowledge into practice. Also, we got familiarised with various tools for teaching human rights, which will further help us in the effective implementation of our activities."

The training was conducted by the resource officers under the supervision of experts from the Council of Europe.

Participants in the training gained comprehensive knowledge about important issues related to human rights, including stereotypes, stigma and discrimination, bullying and cyberbullying, effective facilitation, the peculiarities of relationships with children, hate speech, and more.

This activity is implemented in the framework of the Project “Enhancing Equality and Non-Discrimination in Georgia”. The Project is funded through the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2024-2027.
