The Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland today expressed his condolences over the loss of life in the devastating flood in Tbilisi during the weekend. At least twelve people died and many others are missing.
“On this day of national mourning, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the people of Georgia over Sunday’s tragedy in Tbilisi, convey my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, and wish a speedy recovery to those injured.”
“The authorities are sparing no effort to help those affected by the terrible flood, and I want to send a message of solidarity on behalf of all members of the Council of Europe to the Georgian people and government: our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.”
