Trainers training on Effective Investigation and Prosecution of Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation

Sixteen representatives from the General Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Supreme Court attended the three-day training of trainers, - Effective Investigation and Prosecution of Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (ToT),' organized by the Office of the Council of Europe in Georgia.

The use of information and communication technologies poses a constant challenge in combating child sexual exploitation and sexual violence crimes.

With the increasing rate of internet use and access to smartphones among young children, they now have multiple means of communication and come into contact with strangers more easily and frequently, often without realizing the risks associated with such interactions.

Consequently, the understanding of law enforcement officials and judges regarding the importance of electronic data and knowledge of the best international practices will contribute to the timely identification and elimination of cases involving the sexual abuse and exploitation of children.

Participants of the Training of Trainers (ToT) will share the knowledge they gained from the training and the accompanying manual with their colleagues and other professionals working in the field.

The training was conducted as part of the Council of Europe's project: 'Ensuring Child-Friendly Justice in Georgia: Preventing and Protecting Children from Violence, Including in the Digital Environment.'"
