35 mediators enhanced their ability to negotiate effectively between the parties through a training activity organised on 30 June. The aim of the training was to help mediators prepare for mediation and facilitate mutually satisfactory agreements between parties involved in disputes, ultimately contributing to the quality of mediation.

The participants were introduced to key concepts in negotiation, including the fundamental elements involved, the distinction between distributive and integrative negotiation strategies, as well as techniques for identifying opportunities for value creation and achieving mutually beneficial agreements. The training focused on equipping participants with effective strategies for preparation prior to entering negotiations and enhancing their ability to comprehend and predict the actions of other parties involved in the negotiation process. As part of the training activity, the participants engaged in a simulated negotiation exercise, providing them with an opportunity to apply the concepts and techniques they had learned.

The training was organised by the Council of Europe Project “Promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms in Georgia.”
