On July 5-6, a 1-day workshop was held for two groups of employees of the Labour Inspection Office, which aimed to familiarise them with the peculiarities of communication with minors and other vulnerable groups of labour, which will help the employees of the Labour Inspection Office to develop practical skills and use approaches focused on minors and other vulnerable persons in the inspection process.
As a result of the training, the participants acquired knowledge on such issues regarding minors and persons with disabilities, which will help them to conduct the interview process correctly and obtain reliable information:
• Peculiarities of adolescence;
• strategies and approaches of communicating with a minor, interviewing them, taking into account their best interests;
• Issues of protection of children's rights, ethics and safety, motivating minors
• Time and conditions of conducting interviews
• Types of questions asked to minors,
• Stigma and persons with disabilities
• Common forms of disabilities
• Specificity of communicating with persons with disabilities and ethical principles for interactions
The strategies, resources and materials used during the meeting were selected and prepared for the employees of the Labour Inspection Office of Georgia.
The event was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Strengthening Protection of Social and Economic Rights in Georgia.” The Project is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023.
