Back Training of Trainers on Court Management for High School of Justice Trainers

A 2-day Training of trainers (ToT) on court management for High School of Justice (HSoJ) trainers took place on 12-13 November 2014 at the “House of Justice” in Tbilisi.

The training was conducted by Council of Europe international experts Ms Gar Yein Ng, Mr Raymond John Burningham and national expert Mr Mamuka Makhatadze.

The ToT was preceded by the elaboration of a training curriculum by the experts in close co-operation with the HSoJ management team and a Working Group composed of court managers from different courts of Georgia and the Supreme Court representatives. This activity aimed at supporting the HSoJ in developing a new curriculum on modern court management techniques and tools and improving HSoJ trainers’ skills to use the new training methodology and materials. As a result of the ToT session, a pool of trainers was established within the HSoJ with specific expertise on modern management methods and tools applied in the court system.

The ToT focused on the following topics: European court management practice, quality and efficiency in court management, building employee engagement, incentive mechanisms, performance management, time and stress management and others. The ToT will be followed by a 2-day pilot training, which will be conducted by the experts and 4 HSoJ trainers.

This activity was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe project “Developing the capacity of the High School of Justice of Georgia” financed by a voluntary contribution by the Government of the Netherlands.
