An informative and educational visit was organized for 40 students and teachers from high school At Shtjefën Gjeçovi, Kurbin and primary school Hamza Muça, Shkallnur at the former prison camp of Spaç. The visit aimed that young people learn and reflect about the past, especially the importance of freedom and human dignity.

Supported by the Council of Europe, in cooperation with the Authority for Information on Former State Security Documents and the Ministry of Education and Sports, the participants, guided by experts, followed with interest the history of the former prison camp and had the opportunity to see up close the cells, the forced labour environment and hear moving stories from former prisoners.

At the end of this significant experience, the students released several doves into the blue sky as a symbol of freedom and peace and left their mark in a custom-made banner in memory of this day.

Such informative and educational meetings will continue with pre-university students throughout the country aiming to develop critical thinking on the past to strengthen democratic competences.
