Students engage in a dialogue with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Council of Europe, 20 young representatives of student governments from the high schools Eqrem Çabej, Sami Frashëri, Qemal Stafa, Aleks Buda, and Protagonistët were welcomed at the Ministry for Europe and Affairs by Minister Igli Hasani in a special meeting that was also attended by the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Tirana, Giulia Re.

Though an open dialogue, the young people had the opportunity to get acquainted with Albania's role and commitment as an active member of the Council of Europe.

The discussions varied on a series of topics of interest to youth such as equality, diversity, inclusion, digital citizenship, artificial intelligence, education, migration, and European integration. The young participants not only asked questions but also shared their thoughts on these important topics, incorporating presentations of initiatives they had undertaken within the framework of the Council of Europe’s initiatives in Albania.

The interactive and inspiring activity continued with a presentation of various ideas and activities by the young participants through an exhibition designed by the students themselves. Through their artistic works, they engaged in an open discussion about the Council of Europe through their point of view. The dialogue was part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality of education in Albania and promote a democratic culture through education.

This activity took place within the framework of the Council of Europe project “Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania” financed by the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida).

75 years of protecting human rights, democracy, and rule of law in Europe - 75 schools to pilot better education for sustainable democratic future in Albania.
