Saints Cyril and Methodius European cultural route was brought to the attention of participants at a study event on Bulgarian heritage on 24 May by Luisella Pavan-Woolfe, Head of the Italian Representation of the Council of Europe.

The initiative was organised by Ca' Foscari University of Venice to celebrate Bulgaria and the role of two missionary Saints in Europe and in particular in the formation of Slavic nations, in the presence of Commissioner Mariya Gabriel and important representatives of the country's contemporary literary scene .
