In the Framework of the World Forum for Democracy, the Directorate General of Democracy organised the third edition of the Children's Forum “Children, actors of Citizenship” in co-operation with the Association Themis.
On 21 May, in the Hemicycle of the Council of Europe, 650 pupils aged 8-10 from 25 classes of the Haut-Rhin and 650 pupils aged 8-10 from 25 classes of the Bas-Rhin presented respectively from 10.30 am to 12 pm and from 1.30 pm to 3 pm ten initiatives based upon the 2018 World Forum for Democracy theme “Gender equality” and upon living together at school.
The initiatives presented in the form of a play, a song or a video, allowed the children to express themselves, to present innovative ideas to improve the implementation of standards on children’s rights and encourage the development of civic participation of youngsters.
The Gospel Kids were performing songs from their latest CD, Le Cœur d'un ami (www.gospelkids.fr)
A diploma was awarded to the class whose initiative has been elected “Best initiative”:
- morning: Ecole Jean Wagner (68)
- afternoon: Ecole des Pruneliers (67)
