John BOND

Former Secretary of Initiatives of Change International

John Bond is a former Secretary of Initiatives of Change International. He has worked in 26 countries to build trust and reconciliation in situations of tension and conflict. For nine years he was the Secretary of Australia’s National Sorry Day Committee, which enlisted nearly a million Australians in campaigning for an apology to Aboriginal Australians for cruel and misguided government policies. This campaign led to a wholehearted apology by the Parliament in 2008, and new funded policies aimed at ending the tragic social conditions. For this work he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia.
