Roma youth organisations and other stakeholders met in Strasbourg on 15 and 16 January 2025 in the Coordination and Support Group to support participation, representation and inclusion of Roma young people, in accordance with the Recommendation CM/Rec(2023)4 on Roma Youth Participation.

The Joint Council on Youth adopted in 2024 a roadmap to implement the recommendation. The roadmap identifies roles and tasks for national authorities, youth and other civil society organisations, Roma youth organisations and the Council of Europe

In accordance with the roadmap, the Youth Department and the Roma and Travellers Division of the Council of Europe convened the first meeting of the Coordination and Support Group to monitor progress and co-ordinate efforts related to the Recommendation. The meeting also served as a platform for the Task Force on Roma Youth Participation, an informal coordination mechanism established by the CMJ to foster collaboration between Roma and youth stakeholders.

The results of the meeting will be presented to the Joint Council on Youth at its meeting in April 2025. The 2025 Youth programme foresees a variety of activities that focus on combating antigypsyism, remembrance and identity, and capacity-building. The Roma and Traveller Division dedicated the whole month of April as Opre Roma month of action.
