Call for participants:

The Council of Europe was founded in London in May 1949. To celebrate its 75th anniversary AICEM and Young Brent Foundation, is hosting a national training course on human rights education in London in October 2024 called “Human Rights Passwords” organised in cooperation with the Youth Department of the Council of Europe within the Youth revitalising democracy project under the support of the London Borough of Brent.

The training offers young people the opportunity to deepen their understanding of human rights and human rights education through practical non-formal education four-day course.


 Programme and outcomes

The youth event will bring together 25 representatives of local, regional, national youth councils, parliament, youth organisations, and youth work professionals for a four-day programme using participatory approaches characteristic of non-formal education and youth work.

 Profile of participants

The training course is primarily designed to bring together participants who are either:

  • a)    representatives of a local, regional, national youth council or national organisations of a similar scope;
  • b)    members/ Alumni of the Brent Youth Parliament and other youth parliament;
  • c)    representatives of youth organisations;
  • d)    young activists, facilitators and leaders active in human rights and democracy projects or campaigns or education;
  • e)    UK youth delegates to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities.

Participants must:

  • -    be in a position to multiply and follow up on the conclusions of the training
  • -    be a resident or inhabitant of the United Kingdom
  • -    be aged between 18-35 years (exception can be made if explained)
  • -    be able to work autonomously in English (if sign language or additional interpretation is required, please get in touch with the organisers before applying)
  • -    be available for the entire duration of the training

 

 The activity takes place from 2 to 5 October 2024 in Brent Civic Centre, London.
