The first Educational Forum for youth centres in the network of the Council of Europe Quality Label for Youth Centres is taking place from 18 to 22 November 2024 at the European Youth Centre Budapest. More than 20 participants from youth centres across Europe have gathered to take part in the Forum, which is an evolution of previous Council of Europe training offers for pedagogical staff in labelled youth centres.
This year’s event is aimed at stimulating exchange of experiences and practices of pedagogical staff of youth centres. It also aims to inspire new ways of working together and to encourage co-operation in the network.
The Forum features lectures, educational fairs and workshops, where participants will exchange approaches, tools and methods related to the educational work of the centres. These sessions cover the topics relevant to youth work, including youth policy, human rights education and education for democratic citizenship, youth participation, inclusivity and accessibility. The goal is to make the educational work of the youth centres more relevant for their current and future realities.
The Forum takes place during a period of several important Council of Europe political processes related to youth, including the revision of the European Charter on the Participation of Young People in Local and Regional Life and the forthcoming Ministerial Conference on Youth. The Forum therefore provides an ideal opportunity for the network to brainstorm about ways in which they can be involved in these key processes in 2025.
