End of term evaluation visit of the Quality Label Expert Team to EurÓg Youth Centre, Killarney, Ireland
29-30 October, EurÓg Youth Centre, Killarney, Ireland, was visited by the Council of Europe to assess the fulfilment of the 15 criteria of the Quality Label for Youth Centres, which the centre holds since 2017.

EurÓg is Ireland’s first ever youth centre to be associated with the Council of Europe Quality Label and its main mission is to empower young people to grow to their full potential by enabling them to acquire the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for their well-being and for the enrichment of their communities. During the visit the centres staff and young people themselves  presented several successful intiatives in recent years on human rights education with young people, working with young people from the travellers community as well as local youth LGBTI groups.

In connection with the visit, young people from Kerry County, who participated in the ENTER Youth Week in July, prepared a lively debate with young people from the region, with representatives of the Kerry County Council, as well as the Mayors of Kerry and Killarney, on a survey they had conducted on how to improve spaces for young people in the County.

As a result of the visit the EurÓg Youth Centre was awarded the Quality Label for another five years (2020-2024).

Currently 13 youth centres across Europe hold the Council of Europe Quality Label for Youth Centres.
