A delegation of young Jewish activists from the European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS) visited the Council of Europe for an advocacy training aimed at strengthening their engagement in youth policy and human rights initiatives.
EUJS has cooperated with the Council of Europe Youth Department since the late 1970s and remains an active voice in European youth policy, including through its representation in the Advisory Council on Youth. As part of their visit, participants received an introduction to the work of the Youth Department, focusing on education and training as well as the broader framework of youth policy within the Council of Europe.
Beyond their engagement with the Youth Department, the EUJS delegation met with high-level Council of Europe representatives, including Deputy Secretary General Bjørn Berge and Alexandre Gessel, the Secretary General’s Special Representative on Antisemitic and Anti-Muslim Hatred and Hate Crime. Discussions also took place with representatives of the Antidiscrimination Department. This visit reinforced the Council of Europe’s ongoing cooperation with EUJS and highlighted the importance of empowering young Jewish activists in advocating for human rights, democracy, and non-discrimination across Europe.
