Back Highway to Wellbeing: Improving Mental Health and Physical Activity of Youth through Human Rights

Highway to Wellbeing: Improving Mental Health and Physical Activity of Youth through Human Rights

From 9 to 12 September, the European Youth Centre Budapest is hosting the study session “Highway to Wellbeing: Improving Mental Health and Physical Activity of Youth through Human Rights.” This event is organised as part of the Youth for Democracy programme, in cooperation with the European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation Youth (ENGSO Youth) and the International Youth Health Organization (YHO).

The session, which brings together 25 participants from across Europe, aims to empower youth to take action in improving mental health and physical activity. More specifically, participants will gain an understanding of the health and socio-economic implications of limited access to human rights and the need to address mental well-being and physical activity comprehensively, through a Human Rights lens.

These learning objectives will be achieved through a series of non-formal education and training activities, allowing participants to explore the determinants of mental health, the role of sport and physical activity in fostering well-being, and how these contribute to both physical and mental health. Additionally, participants will examine the importance of securing access to human rights for the full enjoyment of an active, healthy life.

As a direct, practical outcome of the study session, participants will co-create a monthly well-being challenge in the lead-up to the European Week of Sports.

More information on the session can be retrieved from the dedicated webpage.
