Human rights education hackathon in Paris

The International Institute for Human Rights and Peace (2IDHP) organised an innovative training session for trainers and multipliers in the field of human rights education, based on a programme using approaches derived from Compass.

This activity was organised in co-operation with the Council of Europe's Youth Department as part of the Youth Revitalising Democracy project. Amnesty International France, the Commission nationale consultative des droits de l'homme (CNCDH) and the Ministry for Youth Affairs also contributed as partners.

For five days, participants worked together to design human rights education initiatives adapted to local needs, while strengthening the implementation of the Charter on Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education(EDH/ECD). The hackathon enables participants to build skills and acquire new and innovative teaching tools, to train peers around human rights and carry out actions to raise awareness, educate and disseminate rights in their environment. The participants, coming from a wide range of organisations from across France, prepared four projects on digital resources or human rights education, including a virtual human rights museum a digital Living Library.
