Tobias Flessenkemper, Head of the Youth department, hosted a delegation of the city of Sindelfingen (Germany), in the European Youth Centre Strasbourg on 12 December 2023.

The delegation was led by the Mayor Bernd Vöhringer, elected President of the Chamber of Local Authorities on 23 March 2021 for a two-and-a-half-year term of office.

The delegation of elected members of the City Council, representatives of the city administration dealing with youth and social affairs, international relations and general administration was briefed on the development of the youth sector, its programme priorities and the youth perspective after the Reykjavik summit.

A particular focus of the discussion was the participation of young people at local level and the importance of strengthening it in view of the Reykjavik Principles for Democracy. Mr Vöhringer welcomed the idea to update the European Charter of Young People‘s Participation at Local and Regional Level as part of the renewed focus on youth in the Council of Europe.
