Seminar “Education and training pathways of youth workers”

The Finnish Minister of Education and Culture is hosting a seminar on Education and training pathways of youth workers, organised in the framework of the Finnish Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers on 20-22 February 2019 in Helsinki, which will gather 150 stakeholders in youth policy, youth work and formal education of youth workers.

Youth work is essential in helping young people to reach their full potential, encouraging personal development, autonomy, initiative and participation in society. The Council of Europe Committee of Ministers’ recommendation on youth work is key to achieving this.

During the seminar, participants will learn more about how national, regional and local authorities as well as academia and civil society can help in the implementation of the recommendation. Finnish public policy has a long tradition in supporting youth work carried out by public authorities and civil society; exemplary training and education offers for both volunteer and paid youth workers will be featured and studied during the seminar.

The seminar will be streamed for those unable to attend in person.
