The session, held for French speaking members of the team was on 2 April at the EYCS, was led by two lawyers from CIDFF67 (Centre d’Information sur les Droits des Femmes et des Familles du Bas-Rhin), a French organisation providing legal and social support for women and families.
The training aimed to build awareness and enhance the teams' ability to identify, understand, and prevent gender-based violence in the workplace. Participants explored the systemic nature of gender and sexual violence, including how stereotypes, ordinary sexism, and seemingly trivial remarks or jokes contribute to a broader culture of discrimination. The session also provided guidance on how to recognise sexist and sexual violence behaviours and respond appropriately, while deepening participants’ understanding of the legal framework that governs such issues.
Special attention was given to the importance of considering the specific needs of young participants involved in EYCS activities. The training concluded with a focus on developing practical strategies to prevent and reduce sexist and sexual violence in diverse, multicultural environments.
A second session of the same training, this time in English, will be held in September 2025 at the EYCS, to ensure all team members have access to this important learning opportunity.
