On 30 September 2021, the Council of Europe will receive Little Amal, a giant puppet at the heart of The Walk, travelling 8,000 km in support of refugees.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and its Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons is supporting “The Walk with Amal”, an ambitious artistic project which proposes a new narrative on refugees in Europe. At the heart of The Walk is Little Amal, a 3.5-metre-tall puppet of a 9-year-old refugee girl representing all displaced children, many separated from their families.
She will travel across Turkey, Greece, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and the UK embodying the urgent message “Don’t forget about us”. Currently in Greece, she will be welcomed by hundreds of cultural events in cities, towns, and villages all along her route.
