This week, we are hosting 25 young people in the European Youth Centre Strasbourg for a study session “Youth Democracy Academy for young policy-makers” organised by the DYPALL Network in cooperation with the Youth Department of the Council of Europe.
The study session aims to share good practices to inspire young policy-makers and empower members of local youth councils with skills to revitalise democracy and educate peers on democratic engagement and participation.
The group of young policy-makers, young members of local youth councils and youth activists will explore local policy dialogue, democracy and youth participation through discussions, simulations and exchanges based on tools and approaches of both the Council of Europe and DYPALL. Participants will also learn about the co-management from Eva KOTNIK, member of the Advisory Council on Youth, and discuss about the youth perspective and Reykjavik Principles for Democracy with Tobias FLESSENKEMPER, the Head of the Youth Department.
During an intensive 4-day programme, participants will also have space to share their local practices of policy dialogue and active youth participation, to finally establish an informal network that DYPALL will continue to manage as a common point for good practice examples, resources and information.
The group will also visit the Council of Europe’s Congress of Local and Regional Authorities to speak about the Revised Charter on Participation of Young People in Local and Regional Life and during this visit they will also have a chance to meet participants of the study visit on local youth policy and democracy co-organised by the Youth Department and Democracy Reloading Partnership.
More information about the study session can be found on the dedicated webpage.
