The co-managed decision-making committee of the youth sector met in Strasbourg on 16 and 17 October 2018. More than 110 governmental and non-governmental representatives took part in these statutory meetings. After an exchange of views with the Director of Democratic Participation, the CMJ took a number of landmark decisions, which include:
- adoption of the draft priorities for the Youth for Democracy Programme 2020-21;
- appointment of a Rapporteur on Mainstreaming Disability Issues in order to ensure the Council of Europe Disability Strategy 2017-23 is taken into consideration in the youth sector’s activities and programmes;
- tribute to the achievements of the No Hate Speech Movement Campaign and adoption of a draft Committee of Ministers’ Declaration on its legacy;
- adoption of guidelines on how to implement the Recommendation on young people’s access to rights;
- approval of a draft Committee of Ministers’ recommendation on supporting young refugees in transition to adulthood, which is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan on Protecting Refugee and Migrant Children in Europe, to be forwarded to the Committee of Ministers for further examination and final adoption;
- approval of the next steps in the development of a Council of Europe youth sector strategy 2030.
