On 26-27 March, the Council of Europe Consultation Group on the Children of Ukraine (CGU), held its 2nd plenary meeting online. Members discussed the work of the Thematic Dialogue Groups on Transnational Procedures and Cooperation, on Guardianship, and on Psychological Support and Trauma-informed care, and considered concrete ways forward.
As part of its revolving thematic topics, the Group held an exchange of views on the access to education of children of Ukraine in Council of Europe member states. It became apparent that the approaches by member states varied widely and that a common understanding was necessary, including the innovative practices and ways in which national education systems provide psychological support to these children. A mapping study was commissioned to identify gaps and promising practices which will allow the CGU to consider how to support member states further.
