On the World Refugee Day on 20 June, the Council of Europe is launching six new language versions of the video animation on age assessment for children in migration developed jointly by the Council of Europe and the European Asylum Support Office (EASO). The new published versions are Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Punjabi, Somali and Tigrinya.
The video animation was already available in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Bambara, Wolof and Moroccan Arabic.
On the same occasion, the Council of Europe is also launching a child-friendly leaflet on “Your rights in the age assessment procedure” with information on the age assessment process for children in migration, available in English and French.
Both the animation and leaflet seek to inform children about the age assessment procedures in an adapted way, so that they understand that the age assessment should be conducted in a manner that respects their human rights and dignity, with their informed consent, and that takes into account any particular vulnerabilities, their gender and cultural background.
