On 14 March 2023, the Council of Europe will hold an online conference to assess the needs for further support aimed at protecting the rights of the child in Ukraine during the war and in the post-war period, to be covered within the Council of Europe project "Protecting the rights of Ukrainian children during and in post-war context" that will run up until December 2024. At the same time, the conference will be an opportunity to showcase the main results and resources developed for the Ukrainian authorities working to uphold the rights of the child within the framework of the Council of Europe project "Combating violence against children in Ukraine" in 2022.
Jeroen Schokkenbroek, Director of Anti-Discrimination, Directorate General of Democracy and Human Values of the Council of Europe, Olena Lytvynenko, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine a.i., Viktoria Litvinova, Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets, Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights (video message) will deliver opening remarks. Representatives of Ministries of Social Policy, Justice, Internal Affairs of Ukraine, as well as of the National Police, the Department for Protection of Children’s Interests and Combating Violence of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine will participate in discussions to identify key needs for the protection of the children’s rights in the context of war.
In addition, Council of Europe national and international experts, representatives of non-governmental organisations and international organisations will present the main results of the project "Combating violence against children in Ukraine", along with initiatives and key priorities of other international partners regarding protection of children's rights in wartime.
