On 2 October 2024, Parties to the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (Lanzarote Convention) were requested to submit information on the measures they have taken to comply with the recommendations of the Lanzarote Committee’s 2^nd monitoring round. These concern the protection of children against sexual exploitation and sexual abuse facilitated by information and communication technologies and, in particular, challenges raised by child self-generated sexual images and/or videos.

Parties have until 1 March 2025 to submit requested information. Their replies will be published on the dedicated webpage of the Lanzarote Committee. Other stakeholders, including representatives of civil society, will be requested to provide their comments on Parties’ replies following their publication. 

The Lanzarote Committee took the decision to launch a compliance procedure in February 2024. It applies to 35 recommendations by the Committee “requiring” and “requesting” Parties to take action in order to comply with the obligations arising from the Lanzarote Convention as clarified by its Explanatory Report and by documents adopted by the Committee.
