Corina Călugăru, serving as the Thematic Coordinator for information policy (TC-INF), contributed to various initiatives aimed at advancing human rights and addressing emerging challenges such as Artificial Intelligence within the Council of Europe.

She played a vital role in the creation of the cooperation platform with Internet companies and the advancement of the Artificial Intelligence as the Council of Europe priority through the ad-hoc committee (CAHAI) for future legal binding instrument.

Additionally, in her capacity as Vice-chair and Chair of the Committee of the Parties to the Convention on the Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, she helped preparing the recommendation on trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation and the study on online and technology-facilitated human trafficking.

Her commitment enabled to reshape human rights at the national level through Human Rights Action Plan mechanism and coordination system of anti-trafficking. She has also played a pivotal role in restructuring cooperation with the Council of Europe, from establishing a national network of the experts to ensuring alignment of commitments with concrete projects outlined in three Action Plans. Corina remains deeply committed to safeguarding human rights in conflict zones, with a particular focus on the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova, as well as addressing related judgments from the European Court of Human Rights.


The project “75 women in 75 years of Council of Europe history” is organised by the Delegation of the European Union to the Council of Europe with the Council of Europe and the Permanent Representations of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
