Sonja Licht
Serbia

Sonja Licht was born in 1947 in Subotica and is a Serbian sociologist and political activist. Born to Jewish parents Antun and Susana Licht, she obtained a diploma in sociology at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philosophy.

She founded the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence Foundation for a Responsible Society in 2003 and since then has been supporting a process in which members of the political elite expand their knowledge of European values and institutions, European and Euro-Atlantic integration and respect for the basic principles of human rights, democracy and the rule of law. The seminars organised by the School are designed for the younger generation of prominent politicians and their colleagues from the public administration, NGOs, the media, business sector.

For Sonja, the Council of Europe's Network of Schools for Political Studies confirmed, once again, that a project generated as a response to genuine local needs is powerful enough to survive many difficult external and internal challenges.”

The project “75 women in 75 years of Council of Europe history” is organised by the Delegation of the European Union to the Council of Europe with the Council of Europe and the Permanent Representations of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
