- Descripción
- Lenbur Foundation was established (1997) with the main objective of enhancing the natural of cultural heritage related to the iron industry as a symbol of cultural identity.
The Foundation launched the cultural tourism offer called “El Valle del Hierro. Legazpi”. The Foundation manages a total of 17 projects, among which the Forge of Mirandaola (Ferrería de Mirandaola), a living history museum, and the Museum of Basque Iron (Museo del Hierro Vasco).
The trust runs several museums whose principal permanent exhibition is the Basque Iron Museum (Museo del Hierro Vasco) housed in a former iron foundry in Legazpi, where the history of iron is interpreted in technological, ecological and social contexts. The museum is also the starting point for several trails in the Iron Valley which guide visitors to the monuments associated with ironworking (such as the Ironworks of Mirandaola / Ferrería de Mirandaola).
