The Academy of European Law’s annual summer course on European data protection law is being held on 9 -13 September in Trier. The aim of this summer course is to give participants all the necessary tools for successful implementation of the EU General Data Protection Regulation in their daily practice. The Data Protection Unit has also been invited to deliver a presentation on the wider legal framework of the Council of Europe in the area of the protection of privacy and personal data. This gave a good opportunity to discuss in details how the EU GDPR and CoE Convention 108 are in synergies and how the Convention can be relevant for law practitioners within and outside of the EU.
