HELP, Europe’s only peer-to-peer human rights training network for legal professionals, is holding its annual conference in Strasbourg on 1 and 2 July, with take-up of its online courses doubling from March 2020 to June 2021
The conference will hear how the HELP network has responded to global challenges in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has seriously impacted training possibilities. Over the year, the number of people using the HELP online platform has risen from 45,000 in March 2020 to over 90,000 at the beginning of June 2021. One hundred and thirty tutored courses were launched in 2020 compared to around 50 in 2019.
Newly developed and updated HELP online courses will be presented during the conference, as well as HELP programme achievements during the period in the EU, Western Balkans and Turkey, Eastern Europe and Russia, the South Mediterranean and Central Asia.
The conference is organised under the auspices of the Hungarian Presidency of the Committee of Ministers.
Hungarian Permanent Representative Ambassador Harry Alex Rusz, Head of the EU delegation Ambassador Meglena Kuneva and European Court of Human Rights President Robert Spano addressed the conference.
