Presidents of Supreme and Constitutional courts from Council of Europe member states will gather in Brno, Czech Republic on 20 and 21 June for a high-level international conference to discuss the binding effect of judicial decisions taken by the European Court of Human Rights, the Court of Justice of the European Union and national courts of member states of both organisations.
The conference has been organised by the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic, in co-operation with the Ministry of Justice, as part of the Czech Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers. It will be opened by Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland and the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Bohuslav Sobotka.
The President of the European Court of Human Rights, Guido Raimondi, will deliver a keynote speech on “Reflections on the execution of the Court’s judgments”. Other keynote speakers, panellists and moderators are drawn from the judiciary, academia and the legal profession.
