The Norwegian city of Kristiansand is hosting an online conference on Tuesday 5 May to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).
The conference will include an anniversary address from the President of the European Court of Human Rights, Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos.
Former Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland, former Prime Minister of Sweden Carl Bildt and the Mayor of Kristiansand, Jan Oddvar Skisland, will be among the other speakers at the event.
Topics will include the importance of human rights for pan-European cohesion and peace, current challenges to democracy and protecting freedom of expression in Europe.
