“I strongly condemn the terrorist attack which has taken place at the heart of London. The democratic institutions of the United Kingdom were clearly targeted.
I express my condolences to the families of the victims and wish a prompt recovery to those injured. My deep sympathy goes to the British people and I want to assure the UK authorities of my solidarity on behalf of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
This tragedy confirms once again the need for our democracies to stand firm against terrorism with full respect for the rule of law. We must also ensure that our values of human rights and tolerance prevail in our societies over the hate that terrorists seek to diffuse.”
