Rochester Minnesota is the first city in the United States to join the Intercultural cities programme. The review of the city’s migrant inclusion and diversity policies were reviewed and the ICC INDEX reports were published, triggering an enthusiastic debate within the community.
The first expert “visit” has taken place on 14-18 September online to discuss the INDEX results and start planning Rochester’s future intercultural strategy and action plan. Council of Europe officials, as well as experts from Europe, USA and Canada have exchanged with the Mayor and city councillors, and a range of city departments, including the Police, and civil society organisations.
Rochester is soon to appoint an official to lead its work on equality, diversity and inclusion.
