Mexico City is one of the most important financial centers in the Americas. It is located in the Valley of Mexico, a large valley in the high plateaus at the center of Mexico, at an altitude of 2,240 metres. The city consists of sixteen boroughs.
Mexico City has a population of 8 million 900 thousand inhabitants, among which 11,40% are foreign-born, considering international migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and indigenous people moving to the city. The largest minority group-indigenous people from other states make up 5% of the city’s population. Non-nationals make up 4% of Mexico City’s total inhabitants.
