Celebrating intercultural successes of Australian Cities

The Intercultural Cities Australian National Network is delighted to announce the recent success of two Network members.

In October 2022 the City of Ballarat won the Victorian Multicultural Commission’s Excellence in Local Government Award for its Intercultural Ambassador program, Intercultural Employment Pathway and Harmony Festival Celebrations. The City of Ballarat also released their Intercultural Plan 2022-2026 placing interculturalism firmly within the City’s social inclusion agenda and, on 23 March 2023, created their own Awards event acknowledging 12 individuals and organisation at the 2023 Intercultural Recognition Awards

Also successful in being awarded for its excellence is City of Salisbury in South Australia which won the Planning Institute of Australia Community Wellbeing and Diversity Award in December 2022 for their collaborative approach in developing the City's Intercultural Strategic Plan 2017-2027.

We are all very proud of both Councils for their success in achieving regional and national recognition of their work and for gaining broader social and political understanding of interculturalism and its benefits for Australian society.
