A team of Council of Europe experts carried out an evaluation visit to Armenia to assess the country’s anti-doping system. Held from 25 to 27 June 2024, the visit aimed to evaluate the implementation of the Anti-Doping Convention.

The team met with the Deputy Minister of Sport of Armenia, as well as with high-level representatives from the Ministries of Interior (police), of Health and of Justice, and of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport. Meetings were also held with the Armenian National Anti-Doping Organisation, the Olympic Committee, and national sport federations.

The team consisted of Michael Petrou (Chair of the Monitoring Group, Cyprus Anti-Doping Authority), Tomáš Fíbek (National Sport Agency, Czechia), Gergely Szabo (Hungarian Anti-Doping Agency), Žaneta Csáderová (Slovak Anti-Doping Agency) and Graham Arthur (independent expert, United Kingdom).

Evaluations are part of the Monitoring Group’s mandate: each year it analyses the anti-doping system of State Parties to the Convention through a questionnaire and regular evaluation visits.

The findings, recommendations and best practices identified during the visit will be summarised in an evaluation report, which will be adopted by the Monitoring Group, and subsequently transmitted to the Armenian authorities for the implementation of its recommendations.
