Today was the first day of the “Developing human rights narratives to counter hate speech” training of trainers.
The training course aims at building the competencies of youth workers, trainers and activists. It is being delivered online: 3-5 June 2021 and 10-11 June 2021. The 30 participants will learn about:
− Developing competencies for analysing hate speech online
− Developing competencies for developing human rights based narratives
− Developing competencies for communicating human rights based messages to address hate online
− Learning how to be a multiplier
As well as learning how to integrate the following new online tools developed by the WE CAN for human rights speech project into their practice:
- Analyse hate speech to find the proportional response
- Develop human right-based narratives
- Plan how to effectively communicate their counter or alternative narrative campaigns
This training course is organised under the “We CAN for human rights speech", project, led by the Council of Europe No Hate Speech and Cooperation Unit, and includes: Active Watch, APICE, a Jewish Contribution to an Inclusive Europe (CEJI), and Neue Deutsche Medienmacher*innen e.V. (NdM).
