The complaint was submitted in 2019 by WWF Denmark and WWF Germany on the building of a coast-to-coast fence between Germany and Denmark to stop the migration of wild boar (Sus scrofa) to lower the risk of outbreaks of African swine plague (ASF) in Danish pig farming. According to the complainant, wild populations of 13 wildlife species covered by the appendices of the Bern Convention will be negatively affected by the fence.
